The last sunny days of July stretched into the first weekend of August on the coast of Ubatuba. I visited Fazenda Beach and spent time birding at Sítio Folha Seca, where hummingbirds and colorful tanagers gathered around the Atlantic Forest.
The Brazilian Ruby put on the best display, repeatedly spreading its bright orange tail between short rests on the same group of branches.
As the light faded, a Green Ibis called from the canopy above the dark outline of the mountains.
