I spent a few days vacationing in Santa Catarina and explored the natural beauty of the region. I stayed near Garopaba Lagoon and Ferrugem Beach, the area is stunning.

Barra Beach

Every day the birds woke us up very early with their singing. I could always hear thrushes, tanagers, sparrows, canaries, and other species. The shorebirds were my lifers of the trip, I saw sandpipers, plovers, and terns, but the bird that impressed me the most was the Osprey.

I found out that the region is a breeding area for southern right whales. I had the chance to see three whales at Ribanceira Beach. On the same day I drove to Tubarão and saw dolphins fishing alongside mullet fishermen.
